Gig for Gary 2020 Tickets on Sale Dec 20th

The Gary Moore statue for Belfast project was launched in April 2019 with a sellout Gig for Gary concert at The Belfast Empire.

Gig for Gary 2020 is presented by The Irish Rock & Roll Museum, and will bring you a two-night mega fundraising festival across two cities in honor of our guitar superhero Gary Moore. The goal: install a bronze statue in honor of Irish guitar legend Gary Moore in his hometown of Belfast to honour his life and music and for the generations to come.

The first concert on Friday May 8th is at The Empire Belfast Music Hall, the same place where a sellout Gig for Gary show in April 2019 launched the statue project in fine style. Gary’s super fans gathered on the night to remember Gary and his music for a night of great music and celebrations.

The statue itself will be skilfully crafted in a total of five stages by renowned Irish sculpture artist Sean McCarthy at the National Sculpture Factory in Cork City. With an expected cost of around €75-€80k which includes bronze casting at the finest foundry on the UK mainland and transport to Belfast for installation, it is expected that these two Gig for Gary 2020 shows will guarantee the funds to commence stage 1 of the statue construction without delay.

On Friday May 8th in Belfast Gary’s fans will again see four amazing bands in one night: The Patricia Moore Band playing a powerful tribute to Patricia’s dear brother Gary, with the amazing Patricia Moore on vocals and featuring the guitar magic of Debby Morgan (Italy) who hails from the Gary Moore tribute band “Nessie Scream” and special guest Ron Mortland on harmonica; The Eric Bell Trio – living guitar legend and Thin Lizzy founding guitarist Eric Bell, a Belfast native who needs no introduction; The amazing Thin Lizzy tribute bands Dizzy Lizzy who will play the Black Rose album, classed as one of the greatest celtic rock albums of all time; along with captivating blues, rock, celtic & folk rock of Gerry Quigley & The Mystic Blues band greatly inspired by Gary.

The following night, Saturday May 9th in Dublin at The Button Factory Gary’s fans will be delighted with five bands this time, in another spectacular show. The MC for the night will be legendary Dublin radio DJ Pat James. The Patricia Moore Band this time featuring the guitar magic of Dublin rock guitarist Conor McGouran; The Eric Bell Trio; Dizzy Lizzy (UK) playing the Black Rose album and more, along with Gerry Quigley & The Mystic Blues band plus a 5th band confirmed but yet to be announced.

We look forward to bringing you more statute news as it comes to hand!
